TESTS FACILITIES FOR THE VALUATION OF COASTAL STRUCTURES
Objectives :
The OCEANIDE test flume is mainly dedicated to physical model tests on coastal maritime structures. These tests allow to check the stability of one or several sections (2D) of these structures facing given marine environment and to assess their performances in term of overtopping, reflection or transmission in order to improve the design.
They are often followed by a campaign tests in the coastal engineering 3D tank to take into account the possible three-dimensional effects (3D).
Characteristics :
- Basin :
| Length : |
24 m |
| Width : |
1m |
| Depth : |
from 0 to 1.5 m |
- Waves :
| Types : regular or irregular (PM, Jonswap |
…) |
| Max height (crest to trough) : |
0.5 m |
| Period : |
from 0.6 s to 3 s |
- Floor :
| Type : Mobile floor representing the bathymetry of the site |
Advantages :
- Compact shape of the basin allowing to carry out tries accurately, fastness and suppleness.
- Quick adjustment of the water level.
- Computer equipment and modern measurement tools.
- Knowledge specialized in experimental hydrodynamics supplemented by competences of university researchers.
Applications :
- Coastal engineering
