Physical Modelling - Marine Renewable Energies

Océanide offers its 30 years of experience and expertise in physical model testing developed for the Oil & Gas industry to the main actors of the marine renewable energies. This activity, started in 2001 with first basin tests on floating offshore wind turbine concepts, is today the main company activity.

 Physical Modelling - Oil & Gas

Oil & gas is the historical domain of Océanide physical model testing department. During the last 20 years, Océanide has performed more than 200 tests campaigns in Oil & Gas sector for clients from all around the world.

 Physical Modelling - Ports and costal developments

Since 1990, Océanide performs physical model testing in its flume or its shallow water tank for public local authorities within coastal developments and / or waterfront protection and private companies within coastal projects. With more than 100 tests campaigns performed to date, Océanide is one of the main French actors in the physical modelling of coastal structures and coastal phenomena.

 Engineering - Ports and costal developments

In addition to or independently of the model testing services, Oceanide carries out engineering studies in the maritime field on behalf of public and private clients. It is involved at each stage of a project, from preliminary studies to construction follow-up. Its specialists rely on powerful numerical tools and experience gained during model testing and on site.

 Research & Development

Océanide devotes a significant part of its activities to R&D. Indeed, more than a third of basin time is dedicated to R&D activities. From academic research with Research and Development centres (universities and engineering schools) to applied industry research on innovative concepts, Océanide brings its unique combination of tests facilities in France and its skills in the numerical and physical modelling of complex phenomena.

In addition to its activities in physical modelling for marine renewable energy and for Oil & Gas, and to its activities in engineering and physical modelling for coastal developments, Océanide performs physical modelling and engineering projects in various other domains such as defense of aquaculture
